Looping PDF Slideshow
How to Create Slide Shows and Self-running Kiosks in Acrobat
The main points of interest are:
Looping
Open the Preferences dialog box (Control + K) and click on Full Screen in the left pane. In the right pane, check “Loop after last page.” Tricky to locate – thanks, Adobe!
Transitions and Page AdvanceTransitions can be applied from the Preferences dialog box, too (if you are applying one effect on all pages – page-level transitions need to be added from the Transitions menu). To have the slideshow advance automatically, just select a time delay.
Open PDF in Full Screen Mode
To have the file begin playing the slideshow when opened, select the Document Properties dialog box (Control + D) and click Initial View. Then select Full Screen.

SharePoint Data View Web Part
Hm...here's a neat definition I read:
"Data View Web Parts, also known as Data Views, enable the display of data from various data sources using the formalism of Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLTs). A data view retrieves data from the data source in the form of XML, and applies XSLTs to it. This gives the developer a powerful and standards based way to display formatted data."
The only way to add this Web Part to SharePoint 2003 is Frontpage.
(Note: SharePoint 2007 will have it’s own editor)
The FrontPoint blog has a great example of using the Data View Web Part to query different lists throughout a SharePoint site.
How the Landscape is Changing for Google, Microsoft, Mozilla and Adobe
The days of purely desktop-based applications are clearly numbered, but so are the
days of exclusively web-based apps...More
Adobe's Apollo - Occasionally connected software
One of the key parts of Apollo is the applications will function both when the users are connected to the internet and when they aren’t. Whatever work they do while offline would then be transmitted when they go back online. If Adobe can pull this particular part of Apollo off, the business case for Apollo becomes very strong.

Adobe to donate script code to Mozilla
(Thanks, E!)
Adobe will donate software to run JavaScript programs in the Firefox Web browser, the largest code contribution yet to the open-source Mozilla Foundation. "We can bring together the broader HTML and Flash developer communities around this common language implementation," Lynch said. "Using the same language engine is a huge step."
A Google/YouTube Conspiracy Theory
Pretty interesting! A conspiracy theory that claims more was going on behind Google’s acquisition of YouTube than one might think.

Photoshop Camera Raw 3.5
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
Note: ya probably do NOT want to install Camera Raw 3.6 Beta. Adobe says: “This version of Camera Raw is in a Beta stage and has not been fully tested by Adobe Systems.”

For those of us who have installed Photoshop from the Video Bundle and not the CS2 Suite, I think we may be missing the directory that Adobe suggests (c:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats). While this is not official, it seems to work fine for me when I place the plug-in in this folder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins\File Formats
Adobe Creative Suite 3.0
Mixing the best of both worldsCode-named Banana Split, Creative Suite 3.0 will offer the first versions of popular applications like Photoshop and Illustrator that will run natively on both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macintosh systems from Apple Computer. It will also mark the first formal integration of products Adobe acquired from rival Macromedia in its $3.4 billion acquisition of the company last year.
Image Ready booted for FireworksAccording to those people familiar with Adobe's plans, Macromedia's Dreamweaver will replace Adobe's GoLive as the suite's primary web development tool.
Similarly, those same people say that Adobe ImageReady, which has been packaged side-by-side with Photoshop since version 2.0, will get the boot in favor of Macromedia's Fireworks bitmap and vector image editor.
Multiple package bundles on tap - Company documents shown to AppleInsider also suggest that Adobe will market several different Creative Suite 3.0 bundles, each of which will include a different assortment of creative applications.
The current version of Adobe Creative Suite, version 2.3, is available in just two bundles: Standard and Premium.
CS3 adoption rate looks promising
In a recent poll conducted during the September Photoshop World conference, 87 percent of graphics professionals said there is a greater than 50 percent likelihood they will purchase Creative Suite 3.0 within 12 months of release. The 2006 conference, which attracted approximately 3,000 attendees, was the largest yet in its history.

The Web According to Ballmer
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer chats with BusinessWeek editors about Web 2.0's sky-high valuations and the new competition the company faces
Microsoft has several high-level new hires. Are they changing the way you view the company?
Absolutely. Classically, we're the Windows company. When it provides $20 billion in profit, it's pretty important. But there's more diversity in everything that we do. I would have been hell-bent and determined six years ago to call Xbox the Windows Game Machine. We didn't. My natural tendency would have been to call [the forthcoming digital music device] Zune something that was related to Xbox since we have some consumer franchise. And yet, we're really building consumer marketing muscle. These guys are really educating us on new ways to do things. These guys are having a fundamental impact on me as well as the company.

They are definitely hit and miss (a few of them, dare I say it, suck), but still they are a great resource and when they're on they are well worth it.
