FLV Closed Captioning in Flash CS3

MB sent out this very cool article:

The hype that has sprung up around the release of Adobe’s CS3 Studio products has virtually ignored the one feature that many people would instantly consider a critical reason for buying the Studio or the upgrade…This new component is dead simple to use and, best of all, requires zero knowledge of ActionScript 3.0. It also has tremendous possibilities for Flash designers.

Adding captions or subtitles to Flash video is no longer a complicated process. All you need to do is create the XML document, link it to the new captioning component in Flash CS3, and you are good to go. This is a major leap forward when it comes to addressing a client’s objections to using video on web pages—their concern about visitors with disabilities. The really great thing about this feature, from our perspective as designers and developers, is how simple it is to accomplish and manage. If the timing is out or a caption is wrong, you simply change a few words or numbers in the XML file.

It’s interesting that Adobe isn’t hyping this feature more.  I’ve checked out their Flash complete feature list page and dug through the list, and it only receives a passing reference.
